Keszthely
Keszthely is the capital of Hungary’s main tourist destination, the Lake Balaton. Its popularity is due not only to the opportunities offered by the waterfront but also to its high quality cultural programmes.
There are three beaches in Keszthely. The town beach is a 4 to 5 minutes walk while the Goose Beach is an 8 to 10 minutes walk away from our pension. Besides water adventures, the most imposing sight in Keszthely is the Festetics Castle, which is the third largest castle in Hungary and also the symbol of the town.
Keszthely is a bustling town even in bad weather and outside the beach season. Its 14 museums and permanent exhibitions guarantee cultural experiences to the whole family: Doll Museum, Bacchus Wine Museum, Balaton Museum, Cadillac Museum, Georgikon Experience Farm, Museum of Inventors, the Hungarian Agricultural Museum’s Georgikon Grange Exhibition, Marzipan Museum, Nostalgia Museum, Radio and Television Museum, Surber’s Museum of Automatic Musical Instruments and Phonographs, Trophy and Historical Model Railway Exhibition, Vidor Toy Museum.
If you are a visitor in our town it is also worth looking around in the vicinity. The largest natural thermal lake of Europe can be found in Héviz. For the fans of cycling we can recommend the picturesque bicycle route around Lake Balaton and Small-Balaton. Apart from water adventures, Keszthely also has several other programmes to offer to visitors.
